Beginning Term 1 January 12th 2016 AR240 Art Appreciation will be offered online. Below is a brief description of what to expect in the course:
This course is an introduction to art; its forms, elements, styles and purposes, and its history in relation to its total culture.
The components of design, media choice and procedural methods, which are elements in producing art, crafts and architecture, are discussed in the class. When exploring monuments of art, historical references, such as aesthetics, politics, religion, philosophy, and social climate of the time, are also introduced to enhance the further understanding of the artwork. Theories of criticism will be defined and discussed for the student to make a valid analysis of artistic works.
Means of evaluation usually include written exams, homework assignments, gallery attendance, and written papers.

SCICU Career Connections (formerly known as the Annual SCICU Interview Day) is a state-wide networking and interview event hosted by the twenty colleges & universities that are members of the South Carolina Independent Colleges & Universities, Inc. (SCICU).
December 2015 and May 2016 graduates will be considered for entry-level positions. Rising juniors and seniors will be considered for internship opportunities.
The networking session will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m. The interview event will begin at 1:00 p.m. and conclude at 4:30 p.m. Students may submit a résumé to be included in an electronic database for employers; they can bring résumés during the career fair or they may elect both options.
Students wanting to submit a résumé for the employer résumé database must send it as a PDF firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, December 11, 2015. For this event, your résumé can not be more than one page.
